Berber Lodge: A Harmonious Blend of Tradition and Design

Berber Lodge embodies a love story between its owner, Romain Michel Meniere, and the village of Oumnass. French-Swiss interior designer Meniere, who has lived in Morocco since 2002, has contributed to numerous projects such as Bab Ourika, Riad Mena And Beyond, and Nomad Coffee. With his extensive experience in hospitality and event design, and in collaboration with architect friends from Studio KO, Karl Fournier, Olivier Marty, and landscape designer Arnaud Casaus, Meniere founded Berber Lodge.

The lodge, inspired by traditional Berber architecture, was built using local resources and craftsmen. Adobe bricks were made from the garden’s earth, preserving the old olive trees. Local trees like eucalyptus, Atlas cedar, and wild bamboo were used for ceilings. Terra-cotta tiles were custom-made in a neighboring village, and the decor features a blend of local craftsmanship, including rattan furniture, pottery, and 20th-century design pieces from Meniere’s personal collection.
